Fanny has grown up to be an indispensable member of the household at Mansfield Park. During Sir Thomas's absence abroad, the glam Crawfords arrive to stay in the neighbourhood.
Fanny has sadly observed Edmund's growing fascination for Mary Crawford. To Aunt Norrie's delight Maria has become engaged to wealthy Mr. Rushworth - but she is clearly attracted to Henry Crawford.
The Mansfield theatricals collapsed when Sir Thomas returned unexpectedly from Antigua. His disapproval was deep except towards Fanny, who had refused to take part.
Henry goes to Mansfield to tell Fanny of William's promotion. To Fanny's dismay Henry confesses his love for her.
To her distress, Fanny is attacked by Sir Thomas for rejecting Henry's marriage proposal. She goes to Portsmouth to consider. (Final)
